LML is a private gated community situated on a 70 acre lake about 8 miles from Madisonville, Tennessee. The community consists of 228 total lots with 182 lot owners. There are 99 homes in the subdivision: 67 homes have full time residents and 32 have part time residents (4 months or less).
Dr. Horace Baker, former president of Hiwassee College, bought this property in the mid 1950s. He and Robert McFee, an engineer from Knoxville, joined forces and began planning the unique lake community in the late 1950s. An arthen dam was built in 1960 and within two years the lake was formed.
We have a Board of Directors and several committees that oversee the everyday needs of the community. The board and committees are staffed by volunteers who strive to keep LML a safe, clean, people friendly place to live.
Consider getting involved in your community by volunteering to serve on a committee and take an active part in improving our community.
